As it turns out, not including some of the National League's best hitters, didn’t help the National League against the American League in the Mid Summer Classic. They were no hit through what felt like the first half of the game. They finished with three hits. Incredible for the game's best players. I’m a National League guy so I hate to say it, but you got what you deserve.
Maybe having a power hitting second baseman like Brandon Lowe could’ve helped you. Maybe having Ryan O’Hearn’s bat, which was hotter than Andrew Carnegie’s steel might’ve been the difference. The Pirate’s hate continues. They didn’t even let Ashcraft throw!
Instead, the National League slogged out a who’s who of scumbag Philadelphian’s and random more populated cities rather than deserving players and the results were what they were. At least anymore it doesn’t destroy the NL’s chances of gaining home field in the World Series.
The American League in the past twenty years is 16-4 against the National League. This is honestly getting worse than the roulette table. At some point the NL has to hit, right? And maybe it would’ve, had they plucked the players from MLB’s best offense. Hopefully everyone had fun. Philly sucks, and so does the selection process.
