This week on Bucco Bantr, we’re joined by Alex Stumpf, MLB.com’s Pittsburgh Pirates beat reporter, for a must-watch deep dive into the hottest rumors and biggest questions surrounding the Bucs ⚾🏴☠️
After a week filled with buzz linking Kazuma Okamoto to Pittsburgh, Alex explains why he’s “less than optimistic” the Pirates ultimately land the Japanese slugger — and what that could mean for the rest of the offseason. We break down realistic alternatives if Okamoto doesn’t end up in black and gold, including Eugenio Suárez and Yoán Moncada, and how each would fit into the Pirates’ lineup and long-term plans.
The conversation also turns to the future of the franchise, as we discuss the Pirates’ No. 1 overall prospect in baseball, Konnor Griffin. Could Griffin really be the Opening Day shortstop sooner than expected? Alex shares why the front office may view Griffin as the single biggest addition to what’s already been a productive and successful offseason.
We also cover the Pirates’ ongoing need for another rotation arm, evaluating potential reunion candidates like José Quintana and Tyler Anderson, plus bullpen targets such as Seranthony Domínguez. What moves make the most sense, and how aggressive should the front office be as the season approaches?
If you’re locked into Pirates baseball, MLB offseason rumors, and the future of this team, this episode is for you.
