Okay, so I didn’t actually rank all 1000 of Bryan Reynolds hits in this blog. But I will if you really want me to. Meet me at the Miller Lite bar on a Friday and I’ll rattle them off for you.
Unfortunately, for the majority of Bryan Reynolds’ career, the Pirates haven’t been in many “important games” which I think would’ve added more weight to some of the choices I made. So we are going to just ignore that, and choose ten regardless of the significance of the game.
10) April 20th, 2019: This is just a gimme and you all should shame me for putting it in as filler. This is Reynolds’ first career hit against the team that drafted him; the San Francisco Giants. You always remember your first Bryan, and so will we.
9) May 6th, 2026: Career number 1000. This just happened and again, you should have me drawn and quartered for taking such low hanging fruit. His second hit of the night against the Dbacks, a single to right field. I wish I could tell you how the game ended, but it hasn’t yet.
8) September 2nd, 2024: A game tying 3 run shot against the Cubs at Wrigley in the 8th inning making the score 3-3. The Pirates would go on to beat the Cubs 5-3 with the deciding run coming on a solo shot from the man we traded to get Reynolds.
7) September 5, 2021: This was again, against the Cubs in Wrigley. Reynolds drove the ball to left centerfield for his first career Grand Slam. Unfortunately the Pirates fell to the Cubs 8-11.
6) July 5th, 2024: Against the Mets, Reynolds drove a bullet oppo for the third and most current Grand Salami of his career. The Buccos went on to embarrass the Mets 14-2 after America’s birthday; what a patriot.
5) May 22nd, 2024: Reynolds hit a 4 RBI blast, again, off the team that drafted him. Unfortunately, the Pirates would fall to the Giants in extra innings 9-5. Yes, the game was tied after 9 innings.
4) September 4, 2019: Just a meaningless single to left field. No big deal. It only won the game against the Marlins at PNC Park 6-5. It was Reynolds first career walk off hit.
3) May 1st, 2026: Maybe a little recency bias here, but this bomb off the batters eye was the longest home run of Reynolds’ stellar career at 443 feet.
2) May 27th, 2025: Your battlin Buccos were in the midst of a big comeback against the Snakes out in Arizona. They scored 7 in the 8th inning, the last three coming off the bat of…you guessed it; Bryan Reynolds.
Honorable Mention) July 6, 2021: You’ll see why it’s honorable mention very soon. Reynolds won a game against the Braves 2-1 when he stepped up to the plate…and drew a walk. One of his three walk off plate appearances.
The Number One Hit Of Bryan Reynolds’ Career) August 3rd, 2022: In the 9th inning at PNC, Reynolds walked it off against the Brewers off a pitcher who had yet to give up a home run all year. This stands as the only walk off home run in his major league career.
Maybe I left a few out by accident, maybe I didn’t, maybe I did it on purpose. Feel free to let me know about it. If you have strong and harsh feelings about my list then gather your team, and pelt me with tomatoes in the middle of the Clemente Bridge.
Congrats to Bryan Reynolds, we hope you get 1000 more!
