I am sure by now you have seen the ad from Sheetz in which Paul Skenes has introduced us to his culinary experiment; the Big Glizzy. Personally, I would’ve called it the Big Glivvy, but I understand why she may not want to associate herself with that style of food seeing as she’s entering the health and wellness sphere. Among other reasons.
We all know Paul’s affinity for hot dogs after we saw his industrial hotdog roller. So, it was only a matter of time that he got into the hot dog game. Good for Sheetz for realizing that this was a partnership that could benefit both parties involved. I figured it was best if I wait until Paul was starting that I take down his Big Glizzy. Below you’ll find my review.
Ordering 9/10: Shoutout to the Sheetz in Bridgeville. I ordered on the app and I was in and out of the store in a matter of minutes. Like Paul said in the commercial, you can put whatever the Sheetz you want on it. I went with ketchup, mustard, and diced onions. The only thing I didn’t add that I wish I had was a few more arms for the bullpen.
Presentation 8/10: When I unwrapped that foil, it looked like it was prepared for Paul himself; well kept. The only thing I would’ve liked a little bit better was if the ketchup and mustard were on the top of the dog as opposed to underneath the dog inside the bun.
Taste 9.5/10: The Big Glizzy was one of the best hotdogs I’ve ever had. Hands down. The bun was soft. The Nathan‘s dog was flavorful and juicy. The condiments were perfectly proportioned. This dog had some zing.
Fulfillment 10/10: Folks, let me get this out of the way, this dog is BIG. And I would expect nothing less from a food item endorsed by a mastodon of a Cy Young Award winner. Take this from a guy who has completed the 999 challenge ; if you have a small family, one Big Glizzy would feed everybody.
Overall 9/10: The only reason I’m not giving this a perfect score is because I was under the impression that I would be getting a one of one Paul Skenes autographed rookie card with my $3.99 purchase. I’m probably at fault for that confusion.
Final thoughts: At first, I was kind of skeptical of the fact that it was a completely customizable hotdog. I would think with having a Skenes themed hotdog, that he would brand it the way that he likes it. Maybe a little Cajun spice (LSU) , maybe some hot sauce and cheese (he throws fast with great movement). But he also throws a great change up, so maybe every time you get a Big Glizzy you change it up 🤷 ♂️.
After eating this hotdog, my spin rate went through the roof and I added at least 5 mph on my four seamer. Then, my fake girlfriend went from a soft five to a hard eight. I have fully committed myself to eating Paul’s Big Glizzy on every Skenes start. Go get yourself a big
Glizzy tonight at your local Sheetz, and join me every time our Ace pitches for the rest of the season.
P.S Did I mention this hotdog was BIG?
