Get Out The Vote

All Star Voting has started!

For many years during my Pirates fandom, it was a matter of having just one Pirate on the NL team because it was a rule that each team be represented. Those were the dark times…the bad times. But I still really enjoyed seeing the Black and Gold represented at the mid summer classic even if that one player didn’t necessarily earn his spot. Because that was our guy.

This year is a bit different. I think we have a lot of guys who have played their way into the All Star conversation and a few no doubters. So we will be well represented this year. But it brings up an interesting voting debate.

Are you the type to vote for players based on merit? Or do you vote Black and Gold straight down the line like a true Yinzer?

There are one or two teams I just can’t stomach casting votes for; the Phillies, Braves, Marlins, Nationals, Mets, Cardinals, Cubs, Reds, Brewers, Dodgers, Giants, Diamondbacks, Padres, Rockies, Yankees, Blue Jays, Rays, Red Sox, Orioles, Guardians, White Sox, Twins, Tigers, Royals, Mariners, A’s, Rangers, Astros, and maybe one more…the Angels.

Personally, this year I’ll be voting all Pirates, every position, every single day. Let’s make the entire NL starting lineup on July 14th in Philadelphia consist of Pittsburgh Pirates. Payback for earlier this year.

I hope you join in. Let’s get out the vote!
